The disparities in mental and physical health outcomes for low-income and BIPOC residents in Washington are well-documented.
According to the Washington State Department of Health:
People in low-income households are twice as likely to experience chronic stress-related illnesses.
BIPOC communities face significant barriers to accessing culturally relevant mental health care.
Isolation among the elderly increased post-pandemic, contributing to depression and declining health.
